Managing to the Bottom Line

Business management today is no different that it has always been. Finding the right products, the right employees, the right distribution channel, minimizing costs while maximizing profit is still the goal; creating wealth for owners, shareholders and employees while providing value to customers. It’s a delicate balance that can be mastered but can easily drag down a company if the model is not handled correctly. Finding new techniques for reducing costs, improving processes while still bringing value to the market is paramount.

What if you were able to acquire a product or service  which could increase your revenue stream by 7-20% with an ROI of less than 36 months with a 5 year warranty and expected lifespan of 15 plus years? What if the product qualified for energy rebates of up to 50%, depending on the electric utility? Would you consider it? What if the methodology to prove the technology, pre & post installation was data-driven to ensure results? And the technology was patented with case study documentation of installations around the world, would you consider it a viable technology to explore?

At  JBrowning & Co. one of the newest technology products we offer is the Force Energy Saving module. It’s a patented, natural mineral based design and an alternative to the expensive electro-mechanical harmonic filters on the market today. The Force ESS system has been installed in all types of industrial, retail and commercial businesses since 2007. Each Force installation is custom fit for the electrical requirements of the business application. It is proving to be an outstanding addition to the electrical grid. Our customers are seeing reduced maintenance costs, longer life projections for motors by reducing motor temperature in the operating environment and a higher efficiency of electrical current to the system.

As the market forces of today continue to become more competitive, finding new ways to control costs will be imperative. We believe our line of energy products will help you achieve your goals.

What If?

Force-ESS Module

That’s a big question…one that is asked by most of us as we encounter different situations and scenarios. I want to pose the question this way for today; “What if we discover a technology or technique that could reduce existing electric consumption in all areas, residential, commercial, industrial and transportation by an average of 10%? What if the technology is based on a natural mineral and doesn’t contribute to a carbon footprint in operation? Would that be something we should consider?”

Common sense tells us yes. However, most people are skeptical of anything different or outside their realm of understanding. We have grown up with the image of the “snake-oil salesman”, the  stigma of the “used car salesman” and in some of our experiences, the failed equipment sold to businesses that didn’t perform or wouldn’t work as promised. Billions of dollars have been lost to failed projects due to “promised results” failing to materialize. Having a healthy caution as we consider new or different technology is warranted. But there comes a point in our decision making process where we need to commit.

As a representative of a new and different technology product, I find it a challenge to break through the “clutter”. As our product is presented, I can see and feel the tension in our potential customers as they try to grasp the concept and reality of how it can work for them. Once they comprehend the possibilities, they begin to ask the right questions. Then we begin to discover what the true value will be.

I began this topic by posing a couple of questions. I’m not a scientist or mathematician so the numbers from the EIA for this report are staggering in size. I have added a line at the bottom to show what a 10% savings in electric consumption would mean to the USA.

The bottom line – it is achievable. We have a technology that is proving everyday in all types of applications, in all parts of the world, that energy conservation is doable. Companies, factories, airports, hospitals, schools, office buildings, warehouses, rec centers, assisted living facilities and homeowners are reducing their electric usage by an average of 10-16%. Don’t believe it? We have satisfied customer data and case studies to prove the numbers.

Our product is non-invasive, not complicated and based on a natural mineral. It is patented, tested, documented and implemented around the world.

If you have questions regarding our process, we’ll be pleased to answer them. Our goal is simple- provide an alternative product for the marketplace.

Finding New Ways to Reduce Energy Consumption

We are constantly being reminded of how much energy we use on any given day. Technology continues to move us forward, helping to find new techniques which can lower our consumption. However in most homes and businesses we struggle to find the balance. As our homes become more technologically advanced, so does our energy consumption. Switching to LED lighting is a great way to reduce our carbon footprint but the up-front cost of the bulbs can be a deterrent. LEDs will come down in price as more people begin to change from the CFL and incandescent bulbs. In most cases the switch to LED lamps will save up to 85% in energy costs per light. That is a substantial reduction.

One of the newest additions to the energy savings market which is now available to the residential home is the FORCE ESS module. The FORCE module is attached directly to the incoming electrical supply panel. The FORCE module produces a constant flow of electrons into the electrical wiring to help increase the efficiency of the supply. Increasing the efficiency helps to reduce the kilowatt consumption throughout the home and lower the electric consumption by 8% or more. The technology is patented, tested and approved for home use.

The LED and FORCE ESS product lines were designed for the industrial and commercial markets. Years of research, development and implementation in all types and sizes of projects around the world has provided a wealth of case studies. Bringing new ideas to the marketplace is challenging in a number of ways. Breaking down old assumptions, negative past experiences, unproven products and results are just a few of the barriers when new product ideas are introduced.

Our goal should always be to test, verify and implement new products or designs that can bring new methods to the market. Doing so helps everyone. If we can produce products in a more efficient process we can be more competitive in the marketplace. It’s just good business!

How Green are You?

Being Green has a number of meanings. Green as in the environment, Green as in saving money and Green as being a responsible steward of resources are just some of the ways Green is viewed. For the purposes of this discussion, Green will encompass all three elements.

Question 1- How do you approach the environment in your business practices? What values do you instill in your employees & co-workers? Is this an important element of your business? If you would utilize new business practices would you be open to change or more reluctant?

Question 2- As a business manager do you have a  process to review and evaluate new ways to save dollars in your budget? Is saving bottom line money a key driver for your business? In today’s environment, saving bottom line dollars can mean the difference in turning a profit, keeping or expanding the workforce or layoffs and downsizing the business. For most of us, we have either been through these changes and perhaps even been the led in implementing cost savings but not enough to save our position. Business today is facing substantial pressure to bring quality products to market while holding the line on costs. It’s a never ending battle as the cost of energy, transportation and a myriad of new challenges add to the bottom line.

Question 3 – All companies use resources. Paper, electric, lighting, computers and the list goes on. How efficient are you? Do you recycle? Have you implemented cost savings into your business practice?

Ok, I know I’ve posed a great number of questions and you’re probably asking yourself, Why? Answer – To get you to think!  Being bottom line conscious is not a bad thing. Your CFO is probably applauding the fact that you are or are becoming a better steward of resources in your planning, implementation and execution of your role as a manager or employee. Most of us have undergone Lean Training, Six Sigma training, JIT management along with a host of other programs. These programs are designed to help create cost savings through a variety of applications. How well they’re implemented and utilized depends on how well each individual has “bought in”.

Some new elements to consider in planning and saving:

1- LED lighting – although the initial cost may seem high, technology is improving dramatically as new chips and processes are being upgraded. Manufacturing of the LED lights is state of the art. As the acceptance of the LED light becomes more widespread, manufacturing costs will begin to come down. Replacing an incandescent bulb with an LED can reduce the required electric usage by up to 80%. Imagine replacing the florescent tubes in your office with LED tubes. Savings are substantial and LED bulbs last 50,000 hours and longer. In most business settings, that’s 25-35 years of use without having to replace bulbs. Most LED’s are rated at 35,000 hours and more. They are now available for almost every application in the office, home or factory.

2 – FORCE ES – Force ES is a new patented energy saving device helping to reduce overall electrical costs. It’s not a capacitor,  inverter or condenser. It uses a natural mineral element which provides a steady flow of electrons into to the electrical system. Why does it work and why didn’t someone else think of it is outside my range of knowledge. We design the unit to fit the requirements which is a good thing. One size doesn’t fit all and allows for a targeted application.
